Q: As an aesthetician, what is the one most important skin care tips you can offer?

A: My number one tip is to remember to cleanse and moisturize.  Choose a gentle cleanser to remove excess product build-up and dead skin (or dirt and grime), this will allow moisturizing products to be better absorbed by the skin.

Q: How important is moisturizer and what is the most effective way to use moisturizing products?

A: In my opinion moisturizer is extremely important. Moisturizer helps to keep skin from drying out and becoming itchy or flaky, especially as you age. Moisturizing keeps the skin quenched and supple, especially when applied to damp skin. I always tell clients to apply moisturizer right out of the shower, this allows the product to help lock in moisture. If you want extra moisture you can also add your favorite serum to moisturizer for improved results. Well hydrated skin is always the goal, and improves the look and feel (comfort) of your skin.

Q: What is the one makeup product you find most helpful in hiding skin flaws?

A: If I had to choose one product, it would be concealer, which I think is probably the most helpful and effective product for hiding skin flaws. And, using color correcting concealer adds additional coverage of flaws and improves your ability to neutralize discoloration and even out the skin tone before applying foundation. Most brands these days offer color correcting concealers, and the trick is matching the color with the problem. Yellow is helpful if you have blue or purple undertones, such as dark circles under your eyes. Green helps correct red, blotchy discoloration on the skin, and flesh tones are used to help brighten skin, such as under the eye area, or on the cheek bones.
