Director, Health Promotions Program Management
American Cancer Society, Inc
Based on her family’s own cancer experience, Marcia Watts understands all too well that having cancer is hard but that finding help shouldn’t be. That’s why as the director of Health Promotions Program Management at the National Home Office of the American Cancer Society she works on a daily basis to provide cancer patients and their caregivers the assistance they need so they can focus on getting well and staying well.
That assistance is available through a number of Society programs that Marcia coordinates, including Look Good Feel Better®, Reach To Recovery®, and “tlc” Tender Loving Care®. Marcia’s work at the Society has also included the national launch of the Personal Health Manager program in 2008. The new constituent tool helps patients and their caregivers organize and manage their cancer information. It’s yet another example how the Society provides the assistance patients need through their cancer experience so they can focus on what’s important – getting well, staying well, and fighting back against the disease.
Marcia came to the American Cancer Society with diverse industry experience – in the medical device, health care, licensing, and market research sectors. For 10 years, she directed marketing strategy, new product launches, and communications programs, which helped to build a $40 million brand for a women’s health care division, delivering products and services to meet the needs of women after breast cancer surgery. She also has served as a leader in several grassroots advocacy and education organizations addressing breast cancer issues.
